The Tenth International Conference on ACA-2004
Hosted by Computer Science Department
Lamar University
23rd July 2004
The ACA, Tenth International Conference on Applications of Computer Algebra is a major annual meeting dedicated to reporting serious applications of computer algebra theories and tools for computer science, mathematics, logic, science, engineering and education. ACA - 2004, sponsored by the United States National Science Foundation and Lamar University, is the tenth meeting in this series. This international conference was held from July 21 to 23 - 2004 at the Hilton Hotel in Beaumont,Texas.
In the past several years there has been a dramatic increase in the use of symbolic computation (also known as computer algebra) in engineering, science and education. The goal of this conference series is to promote this important progress through international meetings that emphasizes applications of symbolic computation and interaction between symbolic computation researchers and users from other disciplines. The Tenth ACA Conference consists of eleven sessions organized by prominent researchers from all over the world who focus on their application areas including computer aided geometric design, geometric modeling and computation, robotics and kinematics, high energy physics, economics and finance, theorem provers, types and specifications, differential equations, the symbolic-numeric interface, education, engineering, science and applied mathematics.
The ACA conference series is making a broad impact on both the symbolic computation research community and the user community. Through our annual meetings, where research results are first communicated, the user community will be able to learn about the state of the art theories and algorithms that are available for their uses. The research community will be able to learn about important problems and challenges facing the serious users from other disciplines, inspiring fresh new theoretical research and algorithm design.
There were twenty-three(23) full papers among sixty-five(65) submissions to the conference. All papers submitted for consideration were evaluated by members of the programming committee, external reviewers, or both. In the end, these thirteen papers(13) were selected.
