2009 - Vidor Science Night - March 26th
Coordinators: Valerie Juarez and Iris Garcia
On Thursday, March 26th, Vidor MS invited INSPIRED to attend their Science Night to talk to MS students about robotics. Science Night is a 2 hour event where the 5th and 6th grade kids, and their families, of Vidor MS get a chance to browse at least a dozen booths composed of different organizations from all different aspects of Science! Some other participants this year included Biology, Geology, Astronomy, and of course, Computer Science - Robotics!
This year's event expected 200 students to participate, but even due to severe weather that night, 108 students managed to brave the storm with their families in the name of Science! Crystal, Iris and Valerie brought several LEGO NXTs and Scratch to give some kids some hands-on tutorials on robotics and animation. It was very exciting to see the kids excited faces when they saw the robots dance to the NXT guitar. And their parents were excited to hear about the MS Academies, and some brought their kids to our first MS Academy the following Saturday!
