Requirements for Application


INSPIRE participants must be full-time undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science or Computer Information Science at Lamar University. Undergraduates must be U. S. citizens or permanent residents.

Students from all levels (Entering Freshmen through Senior) are encouraged to apply. No prior research experience is necessary.

INSPIRE students are selected based on their grades, test scores, interests, and potential to contribute to our mission.

INSPIRE students are paid to participate in research and outreach activities for an average of 15 hours per week. They also must actively participate in Computer Science Department activities and organizations and must be members of the Lamar University Student Research Organization.

To remain in the program, INSPIRE students must maintain full-time status, a 3.0 average in their CS/CIS courses and a 2.5 overall grade point average. Continuance in the program is also predicated upon satisfactory completion of research and outreach responsibilities
