Privileges and Responsibilities of Participation in INSPIRE
Privileges
- Get paid to perform research and participate in mentoring and outreach functions for an average of fifteen hours per week.
- Work in teams under the direction of Computer Science faculty members who serve as mentors and role models
- Apply the principles learned in class to INSPIRE research
- Get peer support from your team members
- Earn credit hours for INSPIRE research
- Receive counseling on job search, resume preparation and interviewing techniques from the LU Career Center
- Learn about graduate study in CS
- Participate in Computer Science conferences, CS Research Seminars and CS Careers Forums
- Receive tutoring in CS and other courses
- Get experience in teamwork, leadership, writing papers and making professional presentations

Responsibilities
- Perform research duties in a professional and reliable manner
a. Be punctual
b. Keep established lab hours
c. Submit timely reports
- Participate in outreach functions: MathFest, SpringFest, Road Shows, summer camps
- Mentor one or two students who are not in INSPIRE
- Be a good team member
- Complete surveys that will help assess the INSPIRE program - beginning and end of each semester, at graduation, 6 months after graduation, and as requested
- Participate in departmental and professional activities - ACM, LSRO
- Maintain a B average in CS/CIS course
