The Lamar University McNair Scholars Program is currently seeking talented undergraduates for the 2009 - 2010 year. The McNair Scholars Program aims to diversify the kinds of students who attend and succeed in graduate school.
Acceptance into the program is based on the following requirements:
Minimum 3.0 GPA 45 semester hours completed Be a first-generation college student eligible for financial aid at Lamar University and/or Be a member of a group traditionally underrepresented in graduate study Be a US citizen or a permanent US Resident
Applications for Fall 2009 are due October 1, 2009 and are currently available in the McNair Scholars Program office and most academic department offices. For more information, stop by the McNair Program office in Communication 106 or call 409.880.7582.
The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program was established in 1986 by the U.S. Department of Education and named for astronaut and Challenger space shuttle crewmember Dr. Ronald E. McNair. The program prepares and encourages students to pursue graduate studies and provides students with research opportunities, mentoring relationships, and skills necessary to successfully complete a doctoral degree.
